Dual booting WinXP/FC{4,5} on an HP Pavilion zv6310us
A page or three on my adventures in dual-booting this monkey out of the box
Quick NOTE: FC5 was not ready to handle this machine as of April 2006 due to lack of graphics support (you can't get the right rez) ... I'll revisit later if I have time.
I'll fill in more here as I get further; you can watch my RawNotes and ToDoList to see what's cooking at the moment.
When I bought my HP Pavilion zv6130us, it came with an 80GB internal drive and Windows XP Home already installed. Halfway done already - yay!
This left me with three things to do:
- Shrink the Windows partition
- Install Linux
- Configure Linux
Each page has a barebones list of what ended up being the optimum steps as well as a narrative of what I did. I wish I could say they were very similar, but in many cases I learned later how I should have gone about things. Que sera perra. Additionally, the SideBar contains pages for each major subsystem as well as a list of references which were helpful in working this out.
